What is Hibachi? Teppanyaki Hibachi Grill

The word "Hibachi" means "fire bowl" in Japanese. It refers to a grilling device with a round container.

An open stove is at the top of the container, where you put the food to grill. The fire bowl itself is cast iron, while the outer container can be wood or ceramic.

Hibachi is small, easy to carry, and easy to store indoors.

What is Hibachi? Teppanyaki Hibachi Grill

In the United States, the words "Hibachi" and "teppanyaki" are widely misunderstood as people think they are the same.

So, if you find a Hibachi restaurant, it is likely that it serves teppanyaki instead of an open grate charcoal grill.

Sometimes, the restaurant offers both teppanyaki style and Japanese style, allowing guests to choose one.

If you want to learn more, I have listed here all the differences between hibachi and teppanyaki, but here I will focus on the hibachi buffet.

In the hibachi restaurant, you will see a lot of food. Any food you can imagine will be there. All of these are neatly organized according to categories.

In the carbohydrate section, you will see rice, bread and various noodles such as ramen, udon and vermicelli.

In the protein section, you can name any meat you want, even special cuts like sirloin and ribs.

Even vegetarians are happy with the rich selection of vegetables and fruits. Condiments, side dishes, and even desserts will also appear.

Food stocks are not only Japanese. There are also many foods from other countries such as China and South Korea to choose from.

Even American food like pizza and grilled steak will appear to cater to those who want to experience Japanese cuisine but don't like Japanese cuisine.
